Specialising in anxiety

Some people don’t realise that most problems are anxiety based.  For instance obsessive compulsive behaviour, post traumatic stress, sleep problems, smoking, addictions and in some cases depression are either anxiety based or co-morbid with anxiety.  Working with a therapist who understands the foundations of how anxiety works is key to help alleviating these problems with lasting results.

Therapeutic toolkit

My toolkit consists of hypnosis, strategic psychotherapy and neuro linguistic programming.  This combination creates a very effective therapeutic tool to resolve most problems. Medication alone isn’t going to stop anxiety based problems because it doesn’t change the way you think, it doesn’t change your unconscious patterns, or give you strategies to help you make the necessary changes.  The style of hypnotherapy that I work with can.

Solution oriented

Strategic hypnotherapy is not talk therapy where clients come to simply talk about their problems.  While this may help clients feel better in the short-term, they will soon go back to how they were originally feeling, because the unconscious patterns haven’t changed.  I ask clients questions they probably haven’t been asked before, and wouldn’t have even considered. As a result they start to see how they have the problem they do.  Then in hypnosis, I provide suggestions to specifically adapt the unhelpful patterns to useful patterns and fill in any unconscious knowledge gaps they have.

A structured approach

Strategic psychotherapy is a structured approach to identifying and breaking down a problem a client is experiencing.  If you turned up to the Emergency Department with severe stomach pains, you wouldn’t want a doctor digging around in the hope pulling something out might work.  You would want a knowledgeable surgeon who knows what questions to ask, who knows what they are looking for and how to successfully treat the problem.  Strategic psychotherapy is a key skillset to look for when working with a hypnotherapist.

Working virtually

I mainly work with clients via Zoom (like Skype) which is certainly just as effective as face-to-face therapy. All you need is somewhere quiet and comfortable to sit so you can focus; you’ll be surprised how natural it feels. Client’s can more easily fit sessions into a busy schedule, be in the comfort of their own home and still get the same results they would fate-to-face.  If you have a strong preference for face-to-face, then you are welcome to work with me at the Sydney CBD clinic.

I want my clients to experience joy and happiness in their lives, do the things they didn’t believe they could and feel excited about their future. The beauty of hypnosis is that when things change at an unconscious level, clients start to experience changes in other areas of their lives, resulting in positive domino effect, and that is satisfying to see.
